About Dr. McMackin
I work with children, teens, and adults who are navigating anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), and related challenges like specific phobias, panic, perfectionism, and body-focused repetitive behaviors. I also have extensive experience supporting clients with co-occurring concerns such as depression and ADHD.
I am originally from Wisconsin and earned my PhD in Educational Psychology from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. I completed my predoctoral internship in a school-based setting with Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District in Texas, and my postdoctoral fellowship at Austin Anxiety and OCD Specialists in Austin, where I received advanced training in the treatment of anxiety disorders and OCD. Since beginning my postdoctoral fellowship in 2020, I’ve specialized in treating anxiety and OCD, working with hundreds of clients experiencing these issues, and continually expanding my expertise through advanced training and ongoing education in best practices.
My style is warm, down-to-earth, and infused with a sense of lightness that can make the hard work of therapy feel more approachable. I take your goals seriously and am deeply committed to helping you reach them. I think critically and creatively about how to support you, drawing on research-supported approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to create a treatment plan tailored to your unique needs and values.
I want therapy to be a safe, validating space where you can feel both understood and challenged, and where we work together toward meaningful, lasting change.
